“RootaBEARga” is coming!

Come meet “RootaBEARga,” our delightful addition to this year’s Bearfootin’ Art Walk in Downtown Hendersonville. The bear reveal is Friday May 10, 6pm at First Citizens Bank downtown, and open to the public.

“RootaBEARga” represents the whimsical side of Carl Sandburg, the doting father of three daughters for whom he wrote the “Rootabaga Stories.”

Local artist Courtney Hoelscher created an endearing portrayal of a momma bear and her cub sharing the stories of Rootabaga country.  The imagination of both young and old are captivated by the colorful characters of Sandburg’s “American fairy tales.”  Come see for yourself!

RootaBEARga will captivate hearts now and show the support of our beloved local landmark when the downtown bears are auctioned this Fall. The Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara is both sponsor and beneficiary of RootaBEARga.

The Friends are the volunteer, non-profit organization that assists the National Park Service at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. We raise financial support for special projects and when federal funds for the Park fall short.
